How do I install GrabFullPage? expand_more
- Open the Chrome Web Store and search for "GrabFullPage".
- Click Add to Chrome, then confirm by clicking Add extension.
- The GrabFullPage icon will appear in your Chrome toolbar. If not, click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon and pin GrabFullPage.
Installation is free and takes under 30 seconds. No account required for free features.
How do I take my first screenshot? expand_more
Navigate to any web page, then either:
- Click the GrabFullPage icon in your toolbar and select Capture Full Page.
- Use the default keyboard shortcut Alt + Shift + P (Windows/Linux) or ⌥ Shift P (Mac).
The capture will be downloaded automatically to your default downloads folder as a PNG file.
Can I change the keyboard shortcut? expand_more
Yes. Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts in your browser address bar, find GrabFullPage, and click the pencil icon next to the shortcut you want to change.
Which browsers are supported? expand_more
GrabFullPage is a Chrome extension and works in Google Chrome (version 88+). It also works in Microsoft Edge and other Chromium-based browsers that support the Chrome Web Store. Firefox and Safari are not currently supported.
Capturing
What's the difference between a visible-area and full-page capture? expand_more
- Visible-area capture — Captures only the portion of the page currently visible in your browser viewport. Fast and instant.
- Full-page capture — Automatically scrolls the page from top to bottom, stitching every section into one seamless image. This may take a few seconds on very long pages.
What file formats can I save captures in? expand_more
- PNG — Lossless, best for UI captures and images with text. (Free & Pro)
- JPG — Smaller file size, best for photographic pages. (Free & Pro)
- PDF — Multi-page, perfect for sharing long pages as a document. (Pro only)
You can set your preferred default format in the extension settings.
Can I capture pages that require a login? expand_more
Yes. Because GrabFullPage runs directly in your browser as an extension, it captures exactly what you see — including authenticated pages, dashboards, and content behind a paywall (as long as you are logged in). GrabFullPage does not store your credentials.
Why does my capture look different from the live page? expand_more
Most differences are caused by:
- Sticky or fixed elements (navbars, cookie banners) — these may appear repeated during the scroll-stitch process. Pro users can use the crop tool to remove them.
- Lazy-loaded images — GrabFullPage scrolls slowly to trigger lazy loading, but some images may still appear blank. Try scrolling the page manually first, then capture.
- Canvas or WebGL elements — These cannot be captured by browser screenshot APIs and will appear as blank areas.
- Cross-origin iframes — Embedded content from a different domain cannot be captured due to browser security restrictions.
Pro Features
How do I annotate a screenshot? expand_more
After taking a capture, the Pro editing toolbar will open automatically. From there you can:
- Draw arrows, lines, rectangles, and circles.
- Add text labels in any colour and size.
- Use the freehand pen for custom drawings.
- Place emoji as visual callouts.
- Use the eraser to remove specific annotations.
Click Save to export the annotated capture, or Cancel to save the original without annotations.
How do I blur or redact sensitive information? expand_more
In the Pro editing toolbar, select the Redact tool (the eye-with-slash icon). Then drag to draw a rectangle over the area you want to hide. You can choose between:
- Blur — Applies a mosaic blur over the selected area.
- Black-out — Covers the area with a solid black rectangle.
Redactions are permanent once the capture is exported — they cannot be removed by the recipient.
How does the screen recorder work? expand_more
Click the GrabFullPage icon and select Record Screen. Chrome will ask you to select a screen, window, or tab to record. Once recording starts, a small red indicator will appear in the toolbar. Click it to stop. You can then:
- Trim the start and end of the recording.
- Export as WebM (default) or MP4.
- Share via a Cloud Sync link (if enabled).
What is Cloud Sync and how do I enable it? expand_more
Cloud Sync (Pro only) stores your captures in your private online library, making them accessible across any device where you are signed in to GrabFullPage.
To enable: open the extension popup → Settings → toggle Cloud Sync on. You will be prompted to sign in to your GrabFullPage account.
All captures are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and stored in a private, isolated storage bucket. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Billing & Account
How do I start a free trial? expand_more
Click Start Free Trial on the Pricing page or from within the extension popup. You'll be asked to create an account with your email. No credit card is required to start the 7-day trial. You can cancel before the trial ends with no charge.
How do I cancel my subscription? expand_more
You can cancel at any time from your account settings page or by emailing contact@grabfullpage.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro access until then.
Can I get a refund? expand_more
Yes — we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee for first-time Pro subscribers. Email contact@grabfullpage.com within 30 days of your first charge and we will issue a full refund, no questions asked. See our Terms of Service for details.
How do I update my payment method? expand_more
Sign in to your GrabFullPage account, go to Settings → Billing, and click Update payment method. This opens a secure Stripe-hosted form. We never see your full card number.
Troubleshooting
The extension icon is grayed out. What does that mean? expand_more
A grayed-out icon means GrabFullPage cannot capture the current tab. This happens on:
- Chrome system pages (e.g.
chrome://URLs) - The Chrome Web Store itself
- Browser new-tab / home pages
- PDF files opened in the browser
Navigate to a regular web page (starting with http:// or https://) and the icon will become active.
My capture cut off or is missing part of the page. expand_more
Try these steps:
- Reload the page and wait for it to fully load before capturing.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page once manually to trigger lazy-loaded content, then capture.
- Reduce your browser zoom level to 100% (Ctrl/Cmd + 0).
- Disable other extensions temporarily — some interfere with the scroll algorithm.
If the problem persists, please contact support with the URL of the affected page.
How do I reset the extension to its default settings? expand_more
Go to chrome://extensions, find GrabFullPage, and click Remove. Then reinstall from the Chrome Web Store. Your local captures and preferences will be cleared, but Pro subscriptions are tied to your account and will restore when you sign in again.
Privacy & Security
Does GrabFullPage read the content of the pages I visit? expand_more
No. GrabFullPage only accesses the active tab when you explicitly trigger a capture. It does not monitor, read, or transmit the text content or URLs of pages you browse. See our Privacy Policy for the full list of data we collect (and don't collect).
Where are my captures stored? expand_more
- Free tier — Captures are saved directly to your device's downloads folder. Nothing is sent to our servers.
- Pro with Cloud Sync off — Same as free tier. Captures are local only.
- Pro with Cloud Sync on — Captures are encrypted and stored in your private cloud library, accessible from any signed-in device.
How do I request deletion of my data? expand_more
Email privacy@grabfullpage.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". We will confirm deletion within 30 days. Cloud captures are permanently deleted within 30 days of account closure.
